Lipa mdogo mdogo is an installments-based payment plan for phones and tablets in Kenya, with affordable deposits as low as Ksh 2,000. It’s a Swahili term meaning payment in small portions, usually easy daily/weekly installments spread out in one year to make smartphones accessible. Some people will call it lipa pole pole or lipa mos mos, it all means the same thing.
How it Works: Customers pay an initial deposit ranging from Ksh 2,000 to Ksh 10,ooo to unlock the smartphone. The balance is settled in daily installments of as low as Ksh 50, depending on the phone model and specs. After completing the installments, the gadget is permanently unlocked, and the customer now fully owns it.
Requirements: A valid Safaricom phone number, the required deposit and Original National ID (Some companies like MKOPA accept Passports and Military IDs).
